COOKIE JAR'S DEBRA! WANTS TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE! New Live Action Series Wraps 13 Episodes for Family Channel
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Toronto, Ontario (March 7, 2011) - Prolific Canadian production company Cookie Jar has wrapped production in Toronto on thirteen episodes of their new live action series Debra!
Slated to air on Family Channel in Canada June 2011, the funny and vibrant live action series Debra! follows a very special girl named 'Debra Carnegie Cameron Delong' (Naimh Wilson - "Saw IV, V, & VI"), who has a mission to improve the world. Have you seen the World? It's big and amazing, but with an injection of teen enthusiasm it could be perfect!
Joining Debra in her quest are (Will Jester - "Rookie Blue") as her friend Preston Lunford, Jessica Holmes ("Royal Canadian Air Farce") and David Haydn-Jones ("NCIS") as Preston's parents Gabby and Jack Lunford.
An effervescent teen juggernaut who never thinks small, Debra applies her big imagination to improving her school, her community and her friends' lives. With her energy and her friend Preston Lunford's talent and (often bewildered) support, she is on a mission to bring back a stronger sense of community to Camfield.
"We are really excited about Debra!, its production team, superb cast and the brilliant writing for this series. It will be proudly unveiled at this MIP TV industry market in April," says Michael Hirsh, CEO of Cookie Jar. Hirsh adds: "The show is funny and cleverly examines themes such as an individual's place in this big vast world we live in, the responsibility we share toward the world around us, helping others and becoming a better person."
Debra's original and unpredictable mind combines creativity with the rare gift of honestly believing in people. This faith in others enables them to achieve things they didn't even know they were capable of - while having fun along the way!
Co-executive producer of DEBRA! is Stacey Curtis ("Naturally Sadie", "The Best Years") and Executive Producer and writers are Andrew Nicholls and Darrell Vickers ("Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius"). Kevin May ("The Latest Buzz", "Naturally Sadie") produces.
The accomplished behind-the-scenes team includes DOP Peter Benison ("Taking a Chance on Love") and costume designer Julie Whitfield ("The Latest Buzz").
